Action Research in Foreign Language Teaching in China

This paper begins by outlining the history of action research before arguing about workability in China’s foreign language teaching and research. It reveals challenges that front-line teachers China face, such as high pressure, heavy tasks, a lack guidelines, insufficient teamwork, based on survey 273 colleges universities from 24 provinces (/autonomous regions/municipalities directly under central government) China. After that, 37 papers published CSSCI publications between 1994 2018 are reviewed, recommendations for future offered. Finally, action-research model “classroom-oriented research-based classroom teaching” is proposed an achievable framework teachers, incorporating information technology, multimodal materials, curriculum course reforms guidelines pedagogy, psychology, linguistics.
